Greetings attendees of MechaCon 2317!

MechaCon 2317 is getting closer and we know you have many questions about the weekend! So, we decided to ask a few questions of the lovely Ambassadors who will be visiting Crescent Station. Since all our Ambassadors are very busy, we kept our list of questions short. We hope it allows you to get to know them a little better and piques your interest in meeting them and learning more about them during your stay with us. We will provide links to updates about them as they become available from SolNet, but they are subject to gravitational time delay effects. We are happy to announce our first Ambassador’s response has been received from SolNet, and it’s from Ambassador Kyle Hebert!

As you know, Ambassador Hebert is an anime and video game voice actor traveling all the way from Los Angeles, CA back on Earth. He is best known as the Narrator and Teen Gohan from the Funimation dub of Dragonball Z. and currently voices Gohan and Ox King in Dragonball Kai and Dragonball Super. However, that is not all he does! Ambassador Hebert also does voices from many other animes and video games including (but not limited to) One Punch Man, Blue Exorcist, Fire Emblem Awakening, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, Tales of Symphonia, and so many more. He also does the promo voice of filmmaker, Kevin Smith’s Smodcast series of podcast. Please check out http://www.kylehebert.com if you want to know what else Ambassador Hebert has done!

Here are Ambassador Kyle Hebert’s responses to our quick 10 question interview!

Q1: What has been your most challenging role?
A1: Any 4 hour video game session where there is nothing but screaming.

Q2: What has been your best experience with fans?
A2: Learning about how my performance in a show helped them through a tough time in their lives or to inspire them.

Q3: What do you like doing in your spare time?
A3: I love movies, collecting vinyl records, gadgets/tech (so I’m always on my iPhone), social media

Q4: If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?
A4: A sloth. They look like they have it pretty easy.

Q5: What’s the last thing you watched on TV or Film, and why did you choose to watch it?
A5: American Gods. HUGE Neil Gaiman fan and thrilled at how it turned out.

Q6. If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would you go?
A6: New Orleans, eating nothing but Cajun food and exploring the city.

Q7. What are your top four favorite roles you have voiced?
A 7: Gohan and the Narrator, since they started my career. Kamina, for being so inspirational and positive to many fans, and Ryu, for being involved in such an iconic game franchise and a short cameo in Wreck-It Ralph.

Q8: What’s your favorite anime?
A8: I would say Cowboy Bebop

Q9: What was the reasoning/motivation that got you into this profession?
A9: I wanted to voice cartoons ever since I learned about the genius of Mel Blanc voicing Looney Tunes.

Q10: What would you tell someone that is aspiring to become a VA?
A10: Get all the acting training and experience you can, then work with a demo producer to crank out a demo that will accurately represent your skillset, move where the work is, market those demos to agencies and casting directors, never give up, have a thick skin, and maybe…just maybe, you’ll get a shot.

Thank you, Ambassador Hebert, for taking time out of your busy schedule to respond! If you’re wondering where to catch Ambassador Kyle Hebert during MechaCon 2317, be sure to check signing times and panel schedules when they become available. You don’t want to miss your chance to ask some questions of your own! Be on the lookout for more SolNet transmissions with updates about MechaCon 2317, as new information will be rolling out soon.
