Attire: Black Tie Optional / Formal Cosplay Optional
This special event is Black Tie Optional / Formal Cosplay-Optional. What that means is that we're going for a classy event where tuxedos and evening gowns are encouraged as well as formal cosplay.
Wanting to do something special and different for our annual event, this year MechaCon has decided to go with a formal ball to follow our dinner on the evening of August 1st.
Music will be varied, so don't worry about it just being Victorian. We'll be playing classic video game and anime tunes, as well as some assortments of Jpop, classical, swing, and jazz for your dancing and listening pleasure.
Whether you want to cut a rug or socialize with our ball hosts and other con-goers, we are sure you will have a good time!
Here are a few guidelines to abide by to keep the spirit of the event intact:
- Men (or crossplayers) should be in a tuxedo or a suit. A jacket and tie is acceptable. Shoes must be dress shoes or similarly appropriate.
- Women (or crossplayers) should be in an evening gown or cocktail dress. Skirts / dresses should be at least knee length or longer. Footwear must be dressy
or similarly appropriate.
- Formal kimonos and other formal Asian wear are allowed.
- No bare feet.
- No casual clothes; including but not limited to t-shirts, sneakers, jeans, etc.
- Hats should be removed indoors.
- Absolutely no weapons of any kind, prop or otherwise.
- Era, International culture, or Fantasy formal are invited.
- The event hosts have final say on what stays and what goes.
Please look at this website as they have very good examples of dress appropriate for our event:
This will be an elegant event to remember. We hope to see you there! Feel free to post any comments or questions you may have about the event on the MechaCon Forums.
The MechaCon Formal Cosplay-Optional Ball will close at 1:00 am.
