What's happening at dinner?
At this year's dinner, the talented Lisa Furukawa will again be performing for our dinner attendees. Ms. Furukawa performed at the 2006 Opening Ceremonies and Dinner, and did a special Saturday night concert at MechaCon 3.0. She has become a requested favorite. We are thrilled to have her return for this year's dinner where she will be performing old favorites, as well as new songs.
Lisa is a Japanese-American pianist, singer, and songwriter. Utilizing her talents in contemporary and classical music, Lisa's performances and recordings display a fusion of Japanese folk, alternative pop, and electronica.
Lisa has three CDs of original songs published through her Yume label, "This Moment is the Show", "Pearl Diver" and "Reaching the Dragon".

What's for dinner?
This year's menu once again showcases our very own Cajun Country cuisine reknowned worldwide. Dinner will start with an appetizer of chicken and sausage gumbo, served in a cup-sized french bread bowl. Following will be a salad, with the entree served immediately after. Our entree is Chicken Fricasse served over a bed of rice. Each entree will come with a side of Cajun green beans. This down-home meal will be followed with a dessert of traditional Cajun bread pudding with praline sauce.
An e-mail notice will be sent to all dinner registrants to make sure the dinner menu conforms to their indiviual dietary requirements. If the final plate selection does not fit your dietary needs, you will be required to let us know via your RSVP in what way it doesn't meet your needs and the hotel will make adjustments to your serving as needed. Our Dinner Liaison can be reached at dinner@mechacon.net.
MechaCon Lucky-draw
Five lucky dinner participants will be drawn at random to have the opportunity to be seated with our guests of honor for the duration of the dinner. If a participant's name is drawn and they don't wish to take part in this opportunity, his/her winning draw will become void and another participant will be randomly drawn.
What to Wear?
Considering the delightful fashion turn our semi-formal dinner has taken toward attendees wanting to wear oriental clothing, MechaCon’s semi-formal dinner is now a formal/semi-formal dinner. This means that Asian formal wear will be welcomed at the dinner event and is strongly urged. Following are some links that may be useful in helping you to make your experience at this event a spectacular one:
Here is a great crash-course site for those who want to know more and/or want to make their own attire: Japanese Kimono

Here are a few more links to help you find that perfect outfit for the dinner...
We welcome formal/semi-formal attire from all of the southeastern region of Asia (aka attire from the orient).
We want the dinner to be a classy event, so...
NO SCI-FI OR ANIME COSTUMES ALLOWED AT THE DINNER.
THIS EVENT IS NOT A COSPLAY EVENT.
This includes portions of costumes. Sorry.
People wearing costumes or portions of costumes will not be admitted into the dinner.
Regular, non-Asian semi-formal attire is still perfectly acceptable as well. While we strongly urge everyone to try and dress in Asian attire, it's not absolutely necessary. For those who do not have the money to invest in the traditional garb, we ask that you keep it simple such as a black dress, or white shirt, black slacks, and a tie. There will be cultural VIPs attending the dinner as well as many pictures being taken at this event, so please do your part to keep this a wonderful aspect of MechaCon’s legacy.
NO JEANS WILL BE ALLOWED ADMISSION TO THE DINNER.
If you show up for the dinner in jeans, you will be turned away with no refund.
