In honor of the 2008 Robotech Convention Tour's return to MechaCon, our honored Robotech guests Tommy Yune and Carl Macek and in promotion of the ROBOTECH: The Shadow Chronicles 2-disc Collector's Edition DVD, we are happy to present our first ever Mechacon Mascot Custom Contest!

The objective of this contest is simple...

We want YOU, the fans, to create customs of both Jett and Zee, our MechaCon Mascots. Use whatever medium you wish: repainting, kitbashing, sculpting or plushie-making! Once your customs are complete, take photos of your creations. Next, post a picture, or several pictures of them in the entry thread on our MechaCon forums. Then, sit back and let our judges go to work!

WHAT IS A CUSTOM?
Normally, the term “custom” refers to toy and action figure kitbashes and repaints, but in the case of this competition, we’re including sculptures and plushies. Basically, a custom is a physical object that is either created from scratch or is an existing product that is altered in some way to make it yours.

There are several sites out there that can help you get started or just give you a basic overview: http://www.thefwoosh.com/ is a good source of information and http://www.jinsaotomesdangeroustoys.com/ is also a great introduction to the world of customizing.

RULES
The competition is open to ANYONE (except Staff and their immediate families), so feel free to tell your friends, family, goldfish, whomever you like! The only catch is the participant must register on the NEW Mechacon Forums to be eligible. Each entry must include customs of BOTH Jett and Zee (see the provided gallery at the bottom of the page for reference images of our mascots).

Feel free to get creative in your customizing… Shadow Jett & Zee? Go for it! Hot pink plug suits? Awesome! Transforming Jett & Zee? Sweet! Zombie Jett and Zee? Wow! However, any customs containing NUDITY or sexually explicit posing and/or gestures will be immediately disqualified! This contest is open to all ages, so be respectful. Other than that, go hog wild!

Use whatever medium you wish so long as it is a physical 3 dimensional object. Please keep all questions and comments to the contest thread, and remember to post your entries in the entry thread.

JUDGING
The contest will run from Friday, February 8th thru Friday, April 11th. The contest will be closed Midnight of April 11th, leading into April 12th. (that would be the Fri./Sat. Midnight, Central time) A panel of staff judges, experienced in customizing, will then determine the winners. Winners will be announced Friday, Friday, April 18th.

Finally, our third place winner will receive the remaining polo shirt and sweatshirt.
