Assists in ensuring the general security and safety of convention participants and grounds.
Primary Responsibilities: (Constant Responsibilities)
- Supervises the activities of attendees to ensure participant safety during the convention; follows appropriate emergency procedures to protect the well-being of all parties.
- Circulate among convention attendees on convention floor and during convention events to preserve order and protect property.
- Warn persons of rule infractions or violations. Report repeated violations to Chief of Security and assist in evicting violators from premises and contacting police/emergency response where the situation warrants.
- Maintain a calm, friendly and professional demeanor in tense/emotional situations and under tense/emotional circumstances.
Secondary Responsibilities: (Temporary Responsibilities)
- Investigate reports of disturbances and/or inappropriate behavior on convention floor.
- Manage traffic flow and crowd control on convention floor, in bus loading areas and during events requiring attendee participation.
- Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of staff, attendees and other persons to guard against unpaid access of convention events and ensure security of premises and prevent unauthorized access of staff-only areas (convention operations, green room, etc.).
- Patrol convention floor after hours to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors-closed areas.
Requirements: Exceptional time management skills, well-developed verbal communication skills, desire to work in a customer-facing position dealing with convention guests, convention attendees, industry representatives and the general public.
Oversees attendee interactions in accordance with MechaCon policy and security procedures.
Ensure an overall enjoyable experience for everyone that furthers the positive reputation of MechaCon within the industry.

Please keep in mind that all applicants will be carefully screened and interviewed by MechaCon Organizers (the owners of Sennin Productions, LLC) and by appropriate Staff Department Heads. Please also note that MechaCon is a labor of love, and that these positions are not paying positions. However, a lot of work and dedication goes into being a MechaCon Staff or Support Staff Member, and it is very rewarding. As a staff or support staff member, you would be required to work all 3 days of the convention, and help in some of the prep work that goes into putting on such a large show. Please only apply if you are willing to completely dedicate yourself to this venture.
