CONTEST RULES
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Entry must be a minimum of thirty seconds in length. Maximum length is six minutes.
2. Minimum resolution is 640 x 480. Entries will be screened at 720 x 480 on a projector. Please use the closest possible resolution to ensure that your entry looks its best when projected.
3. Arrangement must be an original work by the author. The entry must not contain ten percent or more of similar arrangements of an existing work’s content.
4. Entry must be received no later than July 17, 2013. The deadline will not be extended.
5. Entry must have been uploaded to a video playback or hosting service such as YouTube, Vimeo, etc. and be publicly viewable. A link to the upload must accompany the entered submission. Deadline for uploading to a hosting site is July 17, 2013.
6. Entry must not contain station logos, station advertisements, or other such station-generated overlays or graphics i.e. “Ben 10Alien Force is next on Cartoon Network.”
7. Entry must be Family-friendly and be considered PG in rating. No hentai, highly suggestive themes or graphic violence.
8. If the entry contains spoilers, such as the death of a major character or key plot points, please provide a five second “Spoiler Warning” before your AMV begins.
9. Source material can be from Anime, Cartoons, Video Games, or Machinima creations.
CATEGORIES
AMV’s can be entered in the following categories:
ACTION / ADVENTURE
COMEDY / PARODY
DRAMA / ROMANCE
HORROR / SUSPENSE
BEST IN SHOW (to be determined by AMV judges)
AMV’s will be judged on the following criteria:
Editing, Originality, Timing, Content, and Quality.
NUMBER OF ENTRIES PER PERSON
No more than two entries per category please.
ACCEPTED FORMATS
Playable DVDs or digital files like QuickTime, avi, or mpg2. If you are submitting a playable DVD, please remember to finalize the DVD. We do not accept Flash/Shockwave files at this time.

INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR ENTRY
Please include the following information and send it to us with your submission:
* The real name(s) of whoever made the video. If the video was a collaborative effort, please acknowledge all those who assisted you.
* Any “alias” you wish us to refer to you by
* Your email address
* Any “name” you may have given your music video
* The anime(s) used for footage
* The name of your musical selection
* The performer/composer of your musical selection
Additionally, for digital media
* The format and codec used, if submitting a digital media file.
* What part of a multi-part disc set this is (if applicable) (Part X of Y).

Just send it like any other regular mail. We can accept entries on CD or DVD. No tapes please.

We will also take entries uploaded to file-sharing sites. Based upon reader’s suggestions, Lifehacker.com recommends the following sites:

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS
All entries must be postmarked by July 17, 2013 to be eligible for inclusion in the event. Submissions made online via the FTP server must be uploaded by midnight on July 17th as well.

DIGITAL FILE SUBMISSION
If a file is too large to fit on a single media disc (such as a 1 gigabyte AVI file on 650 megabyte CDs), please use a ZIP (WinZip) or RAR (Rarsoft) utility to break the file into manageable parts and burn those to the media, clearly labeling each of them as part of a set (3 of 7 or XXX of YYY). You may combine multiple files onto a single media if there is room. For every video file submitted, please include a text file with the same name (but different extension…use txt) with the contact and video information listed above. Please do not include extra files on the media that do not pertain to the contest.

AMV QUALIFICATION PROCESS

Once the deadline has passed and the submitted entries pass qualification, a list of the entrants and the links to their video hosting links will be announced on the MechaCon Forums. If your video was not accepted as a qualifying entry and you feel that the decision was in error, please contact us at [email protected] to discuss the matter.
